The Mudskipper, an annual magazine written by LSS members, is our symbol of pride and joy. Originally started as an unofficial students’ bulletin, The Mudskipper has evolved to become both an online (link to website) and printed compilation of fascinating articles, quizzes and happenings. The targeted audience is the fellow NUS undergraduate student from any background, so no worries about scary scientific terms and incomprehensible gibberish. Feel free to pass copies out to your friends who are interested in out of the ordinary scientific issues. Although The Mudskipper had a four year hiatus from 2005-2008, but we are proud to announce that our 08/09 Publication Director Jing Yang and her team re-launched our annual magazine with some financial help from the Department of Biological Sciences. Our sponsors Chocolate Graphic very kindly provided the prizes (a customized chococard for the photography competition, and $60 voucher for the first runner up). The winning photo (link here) from the photography competition is the cover picture of this year’s Mudskipper while the photos (link here) of the two runners up are also displayed in the magazine. The 09/10 issue of The Mudskipper includes topics on evolution, the genes of identical twins and what to expect for the UROPS program, among many other fascinating and intriguing scientific subjects. Do look out for more updates on our next issue of The Mudskipper!
