Facilitators@NUS will be holding its recruitment drive and we would like to invite all interested students to join our Facilitators@NUS family.

As student facilitators, we cater to the NUS community by designing teambuilding workshops and programmes to enhance their experiential learning experience. We also observe and work with professional trainers, picking up facilitation skills from them to make learning more interactive, inspiring and fun.

For those who are curious in being the next generation of student facilitators yet still uncertain of what student facilitators do, come join our exciting workshops and find out what it takes to be a student facilitator.

The invaluable experience of facilitation and experiential learning do not only sharpen essential skills such as communication, networking and organisation, they also provide an opportunity to expand social networks and reach out to a broader community. Being a Facilitators@NUS is truly a journey where you achieve personal growth in discovering the real learning moments in life. “experiential learning for the NUS community”

About 60 graduate students of NUS gathered near SRC car park on around 4pm on a Sunday evening. The GGS members were looking forward to a fun BBQ at Pasir Ris Park. It was a sunny day, thankfully. We, Facilitators@NUS, were invited to conduct energizers so as to break the ice between the new-intake of GSS members and to get the BBQ started.

It was also a very good opportunity for the gen 5 facilitators. It was our first chance to practice what we have always seen our seniors doing. It was a thrilling-first-time-hands-on experience. All of us were eager to conduct the games that we planned for GSS. We played a few ice-breaker games (2 truths and 1 lie and cheersJ) on the bus during the one hour ride to Pasir Ris Park. Once we reached there, Shambavi started the first of the energizers with her ‘Square’ Game. It was obvious from their excited conversations that they thoroughly enjoyed the game despite the scorching hot sun. Pavan, the photographer for the day, went next with his ‘who’s the leader’ game. The GSS member, all energized from the previous game, were eagerly participated in this game as well. Then, I went on to conduct elbow tag, which required every one to get out of their comfort zone and to move around. And lastly, Shi Hui conducted ‘silly train station greeting’ game to end of the session on a high note.

We were tired at the end of the session but it gave us all so much of satisfaction to see the smiles on the participants’ faces. Personally, it was an extremely valuable experience for me. I could relate it to going for a ride on a flying fox. I was apprehensive and scared at first. But at the end of the whole thing, I was eager to do it all over again.
